Academic Pre-K Programs (age 3-5 years)
At the Montessori School of Kingston, our academic programs are based on the Montessori Method of Education. Montessori as an approach to education is not designed simply to teach children basic skills and information—though that is certainly one of the outcomes of a child's experience at the Montessori School of Kingston. Montessori encourages children to think for themselves and be actively involved in the educational process. This educational process begins with the smallest child.
Each child, from toddler to teenager, learns and expresses himself or herself in a very individual way. Music, art, storytelling, movement, and drama are part of our programs. These activities encourage creative development; stimulate interest and involvement; and create opportunities for both verbal and non-verbal modes of learning and communication.
At the Montessori School of Kingston, teachers provide necessary resources and opportunities for children to function in a safe and positive climate, gaining the children's trust, enabling them to try new things and gain self confidence. Our teachers function as designers of the environment, role models, and learning facilitators for each individual child.
Students who graduate from the Montesorri School of Kingston's pre-K program are exceptionally well prepared to continue their education in either a Montessori school or a more traditional environment. Give your child the opportunity every youngster deserves by enrolling in one of our programs!
Universal Pre-K Program (FREE to residents of the Kingston School District)
We believe that all children are entitled to the best possible education. For this reason, the Montessori School of Kingston is an approved provider under New York State's UPK (Universal pre-kindergarten) program for children living in the Kingston School District. This is a FREE program for students who will turn four by December 1st of the school year. UPK students attend for 2.5 hours a day, five days a week (morning or afternoon session). Spaces in the UPK program are limited and highly competitive, so we recommend enrolling as early as possible.
Day Care for Toddlers (age 18-35 months)
Toddlers are very special people! We understand the need for each child to be nurtured as an individual, and we recognize the critical importance of helping children in this age group to develop socially and emotionally as well as physically and intellectually.
At the Montessori School of Kingston, toddlers participate in a broad array of activities ranging from individual problem solving to group play. Our spacious, enclosed playground offers children ample opportunity for daily exercise in a safe outdoor environment.
Each child is given individual attention and the
opportunity to shine, building self esteem while building skills. Parents who
leave their toddlers in our care know that their day will be filled with fun,
educational, and safe activities.
Education and credentials are important, but just as critical are the unfailing dedication and genuinely caring attitude that each of our employees demonstrates to every child every day. Our staff is committed to making your child's experience at the Montessori School of Kingston positive in every way, laying the foundation for a lifetime of productive learning, positive social values, and good citizenship.
